A good while back a friend of mine bought a modified cti golf and wanted to have a run against my modified 2.8 skyline.
From memory the golf was a cti with a 2.0 litre 8 valve high compression engine fitted. He had a 288 degree cam, mp9 fuel injection and a gotech engine management fitted.
My skyline was modified running trip 45mm weber carbs and pushing 182kw on the flywheel.
We headed to a quiet stretch of road one Sunday evening and this is how it went down. Run1 rolling in 1st gear and we go ...he edges me 1st and 2nd and I'm sitting at his rear bumper. ..into 3rd and I level, start of 4th and I pull away fast opening 1 car as we tap for the robot.
2nd run back up. We stage and launch. .. 1st and 2nd gear we are neck and neck with me edging slightly. ..into 3rd and I open 2 cars, into 4th and gap grows to 4 cars with me still opening when I tap.
Expected the golf to open up on me early on because of its light weight but seems like the skyline had enough power to keep up during the early gears.
